Catching up

As you can see, I found the time to post the last of my pictures (although there are still gaps in Sept-Oct that I’m backfilling as I have time), but I haven’t found time for the more substantial posts I had in mind.

Long story short, I’ll be out of town this week. Last month, during a routine checkup, it was discovered that my dad has an aneurysm in a blood vessel in his stomach, so tomorrow he’s going in for surgery to try and repair it. The procedure itself isn’t very invasive, but it is risky, as if the aneurysm ruptures, it would be fatal. Given the choice between living with the knowledge that the aneurysm could rupture at any time, and the risks associated with surgery, dad opted for surgery.

We need to have him at the hospital in Charlotte by 5:00 am, which means we’ll be rolling at 3:00 am tonight (which also means, night owl that I am, I won’t be going to bed).

I’ll have internet access here and there, and of course I’ll have my iPhone with me, but you’ll of course understand that blogging won’t be a priority. However I will try and post once the surgery is done, just because it will be an easy way to get the word out to anyone who wants to know.

So do me a favor and wish us well, and hopefully by this time tomorrow our biggest concern will be when they’re going to let dad go home.
