I have something of a watch fetish. I make no bones about it. I can’t afford to indulge in it, however, and since an expensive watch strikes me as one of the most frivolous and indulgent purchases you can make, I can’t bring myself to spend any more money than that. However, if I ever have an excess of disposable income, well, you’d best watch out.

This is my new watch. It’s a Fossil, as you can see. I like Fossil’s styling, but I’ve owned four, with the last two being replacements for the first two. For me, they tend to only last until their first battery change. To their credit, the Fossil folks have a good warranty (11 years), but the irritating thing is that they only produce any given watch for a month or two, so you can never get the same model as a replacement.
