The Year in Pictures - 1/7

OK. I basically didn’t leave the house today, so this is what you get.
Conicidentally, this gives me a chance to mention a major decision I’ve recently made.
This is the entirety of my comic book collection (except, of course, the bit stored on the rack in the first YiP posting). Almost 20 years worth of accumulation, give or take a year. It’s perpetually in the midst of being organized, and it presents something of a storage problem, as you can see.
So, I’ve decided to make the move from “comic collector” to “comic reader.” Meaning that, after reading the comics, I’ll get rid of them. This also means liquidating the old collection, which is sort of what’s going on in the picture.
I got started on this kick the last time I moved, when I decided to thin the collection because it was beginning to get too big to move or store (my friends heartily agreed).
Later I decided that just thinning wasn’t enough, it was time to ditch the whole thing. I figured I’d never be able to afford to store and display the comics the way I’d like, and if I could afford it, then I could just buy them all over again.
I didn’t arrive at the decision lightly. A lot of time and effort went into collecting that stuff. But, if it helps get me out of debt, I guess that counts for something.
So, aside from a few boxes of favorites, these will soon be on their way to eBay and such.
For sale: One childhood. Get it while the getting’s good.

Whoa.
I’m with you though. I just got rid of over 100,000 magic the gathering cards. At the height of my collection, I had over 300,000 — just too many to store.
I guess that means I have more closet room to bid on your comics now?
