New site design!

And there was much rejoicing!

(yay)

Rather than waiting until I got it “just right” (which, as you all know, is a day that will never come), I decided to just go ahead and post my new site template. It’s not revolutionary or anything (or even original), it just makes me happy. I’m not sure I’ve settled on a color scheme, and a title logo would be nice to have, but otherwise things are mostly how I want them.

Probably the first thing you’ll notice is the big background image to the right. Each reload of the page will draw a new random background out of a batch of around 12 different images. I chose a collection of pop culture images that relate to my interests, and I’ll be adding more later, with some of my own photography mixed in. These are big images, but should load fine on a broadband connection. If you’re still using dialup… well, frankly I have nothing but pity and contempt for you. Join us in the 21st century, won’t you?

Speaking of photography, if you scroll down to the bottom of the navbar on the right, you should see a random selection of photos from my new Flickr account. I’m slowly stocking it with my backlog of existing photos, and I’m starting a photography class in a few weeks, so I’ll also be adding new stuff as time goes on.

That’s about it as far as new features. Everything else may look different, but works pretty mcuht eh same as before.

I’ll also get my RSS feeds linked soon. The site has always had them, but I haven’t set up any links for them on the new template. Those of you using Safari on a Mac can of course use the magic blue RSS button. Everybody else will have to wait a day or two.

So, that’s it. Please comment and let me know what you think!

Oh, I’ll also try to be a little better about actually posting content, but I make no promises :)

Well I am glad you went ahead with the new look. I’ve only seen one or two of the test images, so it will be fun to see all of the at some pt.
