In retail parlance, the Soft Opening
Plans were not in hand to start The New Blog today, but the spirit has seized me, which happens so seldom these days that I’d be remiss not to take advantage.
Actually, it seized me a week ago, and released me nearly as quickly. So that sentence has been sitting in a file by itself for that long. My muse is, like myself, fickle and easily distracted.
I suppose I’ll have a Grand Opening at some point, once I’ve settled on a page design, an official name, and other things which only the OCD-afflicted worry about. For now, I’m going with a standard WordPress template, and everything else is Up For Grabs and Subject to Change at Any Moment. I wanted to go ahead and get some content in place, however, because a grand opening with no content is (if I may stretch the retail metaphor beyond its recommended tolerances) like a new store with no stock on the shelves.
The New Blog is running on WordPress on my very own server, rather than LiveJournal, as in days of yore. However, all future posts will be mirrored to the same old LJ account, so those of you beholden to Friends Pages and such ilk can still join in the fun.
Readers of said LJ account will notice that the old posts are gone. I won’t belabor what made me unhappy about The Old Blog, and you know I could, as Belaboring is something of a hobby of mine. Suffice it to say, as a body of work, it was like unto the braying of unclean animals. Hence the Scorched Earth approach, or tabula rasa, for the more literate among you.
Without going into great detail, The New Blog will be a place for ideas and experiments, random thoughts and observations, and… Let’s just say that if I were any more introspective than I already am, I would implode, so little to no navel-gazing will be found herein.
Let this be the wall upon which I fling That Which May Adhere.

Happy New Blog Day!
